Located in Macedon, New York, Effortless Eats provides meal options for working professionals, busy families, and those just looking to take the night off from cooking. From scratch made soups and sandwiches, to artisan salads, they provide a personal touch with everything they offer. Inspired by recipes from Italy and Greece, they have a variety of fresh menu options from traditional American to Mediterranean fare. Business Owner, Jeffery Shoots, aspires to provide affordable options of the highest quality and taste. However, Jeff’s life did not start out this way. In fact, he did not see this business coming into fruition when he worked as a Senior Analyst/Software Engineer for ADT Security for 15 years
So, what happened?
When the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic hit Wayne County in March 2020, everyone’s life changed including Jeff’s. Unfortunately, Jeff was let go from his long time IT position with no strand of severance. During this downtime, he did the usual routine as a parent, spending time with his family while further developing his knowledge and skills in the kitchen and on the grill; skills he originally acquired back in his 20s working as a chef at a well-known local Mediterranean eatery, and later as a chef at a country club in the Finger Lakes region.
A few months after he was laid off, there grew another problem. He and his wife, Susan, took wind that takeout food’s quality was depleting. Her coworkers claimed that meal-prepped delivery subscriptions were tasteless and premade foods in grocery stores were getting expensive. Jeff and Susan saw that there was a gap to fill. There needs to be a quality food service that can cater to working professionals at affordable prices. So, later in September, Jeff and his family started to prepare meals for Susan’s workplace and the demand grew. As the demand grew from their kitchen, it led to the birthplace of Effortless Eats on Main Street Macedon. Jeff hopes, in many years to come, Effortless Eats will expand and franchise to other areas in the region that are looking for a healthy, tasteful, affordable, and convenient option for meals.
His family has never stopped supporting him since.

Jeff is a Board Member of the Western Wayne Chamber of Commerce. His advice to young aspiring entrepreneurs is, “follow your passions, be willing to take risk, and create a business plan if you are serious in showing the world what you are made of!” As the author of this article, I could not agree with him more.
